Marta Werner is the author /editor of works including Open Folios: Scenes of Reading, Surfaces of WritingRadical Scatters: An Electronic Archive of Dickinson’s Late Fragments and Related TextsThe Gorgeous Nothings (with Jen Bervin); Writing in Time: Emily Dickinson’s Master Hours; and Dickinson’s Birds: A Listening Machine. In recent years she has sifted the archives in search of documents that seem to be outliers in the regions of literature and science. Her current work explores the land-, sound-, and weather-scapes of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Werner has taught American literature, poetry, and poetics for almost three decades; most recently, she served as the Martin J. Svaglic Chair of Textual Studies at Loyola University Chicago.
